Longcase Clocks

A very fine quality 1720’s English 18th century George II burr walnut longcase clock by William Barrow, London, the well proportioned burr walnut case of good colour, the burr walnut long type trunk door with bordering walnut banding, the caddy type hood with fret work to the front surmounted by three gilt wood finials, the hood with full length hood columns and polished brass capitals, the 8-day weight driven 4-pillar movement with rack striking, the 12 inch brass dial with matted centre engraved with birds, cherub and dolphin type spandrels, subsidiary seconds, date box window and convex silvered name plate in the break arch, circa 1720, this clock has been in the same family until now and this maker has three longcase clocks in the national museum of Stockholm.

Mantel Clocks A fine quality late 19th century French three tone gilded bronze and porcelain clock by Archile Brocourt, the substantial gilded bronze rectangular case in the form of a castle mounted with three tone gold, silver and bronze mounts depicting trailing foliage, the front to the case inset with porcelain panels depicting lovers signed J.B. Bailly, the high quality French two-train movement signed A*B (Archile Brocourt) with Brocourt type escapement striking the hours and half hours on a gong, the porcelain dial with black roman cartouche type numerals painted with a picture of a castle, circa 1880, clocks by Archile Brocourt are of the finest quality 15” x 10” x 6”
