Antique Mantel  Clocks A magnificent late 19th century/early 20th century French industrial clock of a steam engine emerging from a tunnel, the case is constructed of gilt, silvered and patinated bronze with rouge marble for the base and top, the brickwork at the mouth of the tunnel is faithfully copied as is the detail on the train itself, the case with individual bolt heads are shown, the railway line, the buffers and the carriage hitching hook, the dial is silvered with a gilt centre and has blued steel hands and Arabic numerals, to each side of the dial are subsidiary dials for temperature, the one on the left for Celsius and the one on the right for Fahrenheit, the 8-day movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell with the original silvered English platform escapement, circa 1890-1900

A unsigned unusual green malachite and lapis-lazuli mid to late 18th century French portico style Empire mantle antique clock, the stepped rectangular green malachite case with four blue lapis-lazuli columns sitting on four decorative ormolu feet surmounted by a solid green malachite beautifully shaped top urn with gilt bronze foliage side handles and top mount, the stepped rectangular malachite case inlayed with flush fitting gilt bronze foliage style mounts incorporating two hens to the front and sides of the lower base sections with four unusual peppered pot style round finials, the one piece convex enamel dial with black Roman numerals, Arabic minute markers and finely pierced gilt brass fleur de lys type hands, the unsigned 18th century circa 1770 French 5 day movement with original verge escapement and four beautifully shaped bun type pillars with hour and half hour striking on a bell, all strike work is on the rear of the movement which suggests early mid 18th century work, circa 1770 16" x 9" x 4.5"
