A small size late 19th century quarter chiming bracket clock
signed on the backplate John Durden, London, the ebonised wood case with
gilt brass oriental pagoda surmount with relief floral decoration, similarly
decorated applied mounts to the front door and side apertures on ball and
claw feet, the 5 inch arched brass dial with matted centre and with
strike/silent and Whittington / Westminster 8 or 4 bell subsidiaries, Roman
and Arabic silvered chapter ring and pierced blued steel hands to the triple
fusee movement with quarter striking for Whittington on a nest of 8 bells or
Westminster chimes on 4-bells and a gong for the hours, anchor escapement
and brass bobbed pendulum with stirrup regulation, circa 1870. 17” x 9” x 6½
