A lovely quality and very rare 1920’s Swiss Carved longcase
clock surmounted by the wild man of Davos, carved by the brother of Mr
Trauffer, Davos, the German three train quarter striking Westminster chiming
on 4-gongs 8-day weight driven movement with dead-beat escapement, contained
within an elaborate carved Linden wood case with edelweiss flowers to the
front and a mountain goat to the base section, the top surmounted by his
unique carving of the wild man of Davos, originally kept for the last
90-years in the Trauffer shop in Davos as a furnishing and never for sale
until now, carved by Mr Trauffer, Davos, Mr Trauffer was an exceptionally
well recognised carver working with his brother around 1890-1940,s, A book
with his designs of various carvings is available including a picture of him
carving from his shop in Davos, he frequently put all his carvings outside
the shop everyday and carved as people walked by. 98” x 19” x 10”
