An exceptional early 20th century English exhibition quality carved
mahogany quarter chiming moon-roller longcase antique clock (Regulator),
the hood surmounted by an elaborate shaped cresting over canted front
corners applied with pierced scrolls, the sides with large shaped wooden
sound frets, over a glazed trunk door and a carved base depicting a
gargoyle, the satin gilt foliate engraved brass dial with serpentine
edges measuring up to 15 inches by 18 inches with satin gilt applied
Arabic numerals on a silvered chapter ring, the centre with subsidiary
seconds, the upper section set with two subsidiaries and a side slider
for Strike/Silent, Chime/Silent and Whittington / Westminster, the
substantial English movement with maintaining power to a deadbeat
escapement striking the hours and chiming the quarters via nine silvered
gong tubes, the large satin gilt mercury jam-jar pendulum with a fine
adjuster, Circa 1907.113” x 27” x 17” 2.87m (9ft 5in) high.
