A very rare and unusual English George III oak and mahogany 8-day longcase clock by John Warner Campden, the fine quality oak and mahogany case with original base, feet and pagoda top, the oak and mahogany long rectangular shaped trunk door with its original door lock, the hood with full round hood columns capped by polished brass capitals to top and bottom, the original pagoda type hood flanked by two beautiful polished cast brass urn shaped finials, the mid to late 18th century 8-day 4-pillar weight driven movement with rack striking and anchor escapement, the 10-inch brass dial with silvered chapter ring and finely cast spandrels to the corners signed John Warner Campden with foliate engraving to the polished centre, the lovely blued steel hands of early design, circa 1870, this clock has lovely elegant proportions 89" x 18" x 9"
