A Very Original 1730's English early 18th century George II Burr Walnut longcase clock by John Parkes, London, the well proportioned solid oak Burr walnut veneered case of fantastic colour, the swirling burr walnut front rectangular trunk door cross banded with straight grained walnut, the walnut flat top hood with finely carved scrolling silk covered fret work to the front and sides, full length bulister shaped hood columns with polished brass capitals, the 8-day weight driven 5-pillar long rectangular plate movement with 5 very finely ringed pillars and rack striking, the thickly cast 12 inch brass dial with matted centre, cherub and dolphin spandrels, date aperture, subsidiary seconds and convex silvered name plate in the break arch signed John Parkes, London signed, circa 1730, John Parkes is a listed maker 1730 , this clock is in extremely original condition including all hood and trunk door locks and matching weight pulleys and brass covered weights 91" x 18" x 9.5"
