An antique lovely French late 19th century Louis XV style scarlet red
tortoiseshell and cut brass boulle clock surmounted by a cherub, the
very high quality scarlet red tortoiseshell case with straight shape
sides and an aperture to the front revealing the sunburst cherub head
pendulum with boulle work to the inside of the case also, sitting on
four ormolu rococo style feet, the case decorated with gilt bronze
rococo mounts, the 8-day signed and numbered French movement striking
the hours and half hours on a bell, the 12-piece enamel cartouche dial
with blue Roman numerals, circa 1870, original numbered pendulum, the
clock with Brocourt type escapement 20” x 10 ” x 6 ” |
